In the forgery case, the Supreme Court of India granted bail to the Samajwadi Party leader and Member of Lok Sabha Azam khan. The court directed that he would be released on bail after the trial court records his statements within a few weeks. The Division bench granted bail, which was composed of Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice Sanjiv Khanna. Azam Khan approached the Supreme Court of India after Allahabad high court denied his bail in November 2020. Police filed the case against him based on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Akash Saxena’s complaint in 2019.
Akash has accused Azam Khan of obtaining forged identity documents, for example, a PAN card and passport for his son to enable him to fight the UP assembly election. A person should be above the age of 25 to contest elections. He said that the original birth certificate of Abdullah Azam showed his date of birth as January 1, 1993. But to be eligible to contest the Uttar Pradesh assembly election, Abdullah allegedly obtained a new birth certificate. In his new birth certificate, he showed his date of birth as September 30, 1991. The charge sheet filed in the case accuses them of fingering the PAN card and Passport to establish the changed date of birth.
Azam Khan is paying the price of Opening an Educational Institution.
Azam Khan is the founder and Chancellor of Jauhar University Rampur. He built the Jauhar University intending to educate the marginal and poor section of society. It is among the best universities in India, which provides quality education at a meagre cost.
The BJP government does not like to educate the youths, but they use them as an asset to gain political mileage. Yogi Adityanath booked Azam khan because he is trying to educate society. If educating the youths is a crime, then he is a criminal. Samajwadi party did not organize any massive protest in favour of Azam Khan. Above all, they even did not try. Akhilesh Yadav did not utter a single word in his support.
