Our kidneys are bean-shape organs that work many vital functions. They’re in charge of cleaning blood, eliminating waste by urine, creating hormones, balancing minerals, and managing fluid balance. And so, there are several risk factors for kidney disease. The most common risk is unmanaged diabetes and high blood pressure. Hence, there are few list of foods that kidney patients should avoid to be healthy.

When the kidneys become damaged and cannot function properly, fluid can build up in the body, and waste can accumulate in the blood. However, avoiding or limiting certain foods in your diet may help decrease the accumulation of waste products in the blood, improve kidney function, and prevent further damage.

The list of foods that kidney patients should avoid are –

1. Juices

A patient must avoid fruit juices as it raises the level of potassium in the kidney failure patient. Instead, the patient recommended to take 1 cup of fruits only a day to improve and manage potassium levels in the body.

2. Jaggery

It also enhances potassium level, which further causes itching, and a level above 7 increases the risk of a heart attack. 

3. Rooty and leafy vegetable

These vegetables are also responsible for increasing potassium levels in the body. It is better to avoid all kinds of rooty and leafy vegetables to manage potassium levels under control.

4. Salt

Normal salt increases the level of sodium in the body and further affects blood pressure. Patients advised to take one pinch of sendha namak that is pink salt, in every meal to maintain sodium in the body.

5. Frozen Food

Kidney failure patients are advised to avoid processed pr frozen food and junk food, harming the kidneys and other body organs.

6. Protein

A high amount of protein increases the level of creatinine in kidney failure patients. So, patients are advised to take a low protein diet or protein-free diet to maintain the level of creatinine in the body.

7. Low sodium salt

Kidney failure 3patients usually take low sodium salt to maintain the level of blood pressure. Still, this low sodium salt increases sodium in the body and further affects the kidneys.
