Farmers Protest- Uttar Pradesh police detained Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as she met the families of four farmers killed in the violence during the farmer’s protest. Besides Priyanka Gandhi, state Congress president Ajay Kumar Lallu, national secretary Dheeraj Gurjar, Youth Congress national president BV Srinivas, party MLC Deepak Singh were also preventive custody. Earlier this morning, Priyanka tweeted a viral video of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. She asked why the person behind the killing of four farmers had not been arrested while she had been under detention for 28 hours without an FIR. Congress is alleging that she has been kept in illegal custody for 30 hours. Hundreds of Congress workers are sitting outside the PAC guest house in Sitapur, waiting for their Priyanka’s release.

Hours after Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was detained by the Uttar Pradesh police to meet the families of the four farmers killed in violence in Lakhimpur Kheri, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and other MLAs were also detained while trying to reach the UP district.

Eight farmers were killed over a visit by the Union Minister.

Eight people, including four farmers, were killed in the district after violence on Sunday. The violence erupted over a visit by Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra and UP Deputy Chief Minister. A murder case has been filed against Mr. Mishra’s son and several others over the violence.

The farmers, who had assembled to stop the visit of the Union Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, said. The violence in Lakhimpur Kheri started after one of the cars in the ministers’ convoy mowed down the protesters. Visuals from the area showed arson and vehicles set on fire. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said he was “saddened” by the violence in his state. He promised strict action against those responsible following an investigation and appealed to maintain peace.
